Checking Into Charleston

It’s no surprise as to why Charleston, SC has been the number one tourist destination in the United States for years on end. The city offers plenty of historical elements, on top of modern spaces and areas. When vacationing to this popular city, we recommend hitting some spots such as:

The Battery

This is a historical landmark in Charleston, located by the seawall on the outskirts of downtown. There is a promenade where you can hang with friends, walk your dog, or even have a picnic. On your walk around the grounds, you can see several historical relics from the Civil War, as the War began in Charleston in 1865. The homes along the seawall are also historical landmarks.

The Ravenel Bridge

This bridge is a can’t miss, as it is the bridge that you drive on to go into downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Known for its diamond arcs and sea views, the bridge also offers a walking/running trail that spans about 3 miles.

Folly Beach

Catch some rays of sun at Folly, as this is the closest to beach to the city. This is the beach where you can surf along the waves, and also shop or eat along the street leading onto the sand.

King Street

Go shopping at just about any store along King Street! From luxury brands to local boutiques, you can find just about anything to purchase. On top of shopping, there’s also renowned restaurants and cafes within the King Street strip that we highly recommend! (Listen to the Charleston episode to hear what they are!)

When you start to develop an appetite, be sure to stop at some local restaurants serving up red southern cuisine and seafood. For more information, listen to our Charleston, SC episode—or view our episode details on the website!
